YSL Glossy Stain VS L’Oreal GlamShine Stain Splash

When I decided to bite the bullet and finally buy a Glossy Stain from YSL the first thing I couldn’t wait to do (other than wear it of course) was compare it to the L’Oreal for you guys. I know there have probably been hundreds of thousands of videos like this one since the low budget version launched earlier this year but I thought I’d throw in my two cents and see if it’s different to everyone else (it usually is lol)

I decided the fairest test would be to apply half the L’Oreal and half the YSL at the same time as all manner of things can affect the wear time of a product and how it applies in the first place so a this seemed the best idea. Upon application (picture above) I think you’ll agree the colour itself and the finish of the YSL looked better but I found the L’Oreal applicator to be more precise and easier to work with. I put on two coats of each and went about me day..

Six hours later and this is what it looked like. The YSL bled much faster which surprised me, it also wore away on my bottom lip quicker and smudged a little more in the corners of my mouth. The L’Oreal did wear of course but I think you can see it held up better than it’s more expensive counter part. There are a few niggles I have with each of thes. YSL feels nicer to apply and it’s less sticky on the lips but really if L’Oreal had a better shade range I would never consider another Glossy Stain purchase. Prior to this test I’d worn them both individually and had already decided the YSL was better so nobody was as surprised with the conclusion of this than me.. I didn’t think it was better enough to justify the huge difference in price and therefor would have chosen to purchase another L’Oreal over the original but now I don’t think it’s better at all. It’s good and if you want a bigger choice of colours then go for it (I still may buy another because the selection from the drugstore is so limited) but if you’re looking for a red look no further than Juliet!
